METHODS by Circular Footwear

A modular sneaker designed to challenge linear consumption and extend product life through circularity. Each component; upper, wrap, sole, and insole, is designed for easy replacement, enabling users to replace worn parts, rather than their entire sneakers. This strategy reduces waste and eliminates the need for traditional repair. Every component is either recyclable or biodegradable, and because they can be easily separated and reprocessed individually, the recycled materials can retain their quality and value.

The upper is made from 90% TENCEL™ by Lenzing, a breathable fibre derived from FSC-certified wood. Its production uses a closed-loop system that recycles water and solvents, reducing chemical impact and water use. The wrap is crafted from biodegradable, vegetable-tanned leather sourced in Portugal, using non-toxic tanning methods that minimize harm to people and ecosystems. All manufacturing takes place in Portugal, under ethical labour conditions, short transport routes, and compliance with REACH regulations for chemical safety.

Methods are a Netherland based start-up that are still in the phase of exploring local recycling and composting solutions to enhance their sustainability efforts and envision a future where footwear contributes to regenerative systems.
