PATCHWORK CHELSEA BOOT by Peterson Stoop
Peterson Stoop, a design duo from The Netherlands, was founded by Jelske Peterson and Jarah Stoop, in 2013. This project and the development of the brand’s sustainability strategy has been supported by Creative Industries Fund NL. The goal is to design shoes that last a lifetime, embracing the traces of wear and repair, telling the story of the wearer’s adventures in life. The design style elevates the aesthetic of footwear, making them more repairable too; creating a statement against the temporary nature of fashion footwear.
New life is given to used sneakers through upcycling, reducing landfill waste and extending the lifecycle of products; reducing CO2e. Design strategies minimise waste, and the use of sustainable materials, such as vegetable-tanned leather from Italy’s Volpi tannery and cork from Portugal’s 3D Cork, further supports the mission to protect our planet.
Peterson Stoop’s inclusive work culture includes fair wages to all employees, reasonable working hours and safe working conditions. Knowledge sharing with the next generation is a core principle, as is fostering solid relationships with suppliers, to ensure ethical working conditions. The brand shares detailed information about suppliers, sourcing practices, and production processes, allowing the customer to make informed choices.
